D/L Series 4 -
From the D/L series #4 wikipedia page: "Tennessee Jed" was omitted because the master tape was plagued with technical problems that could not be fixed in mastering." Well, Charlie Miller, I think you can show them a thing or two or three or four...sounds just lovely to me!
I initially misread this as an upload of a "partial Tennessee Jed" - until I listened to it and realized, no, this is the real deal, in all its slow-stoned-molasses glory. Thanks, CM, for getting us this extra to complete the download series show.
As to the rest of the show, I think it's a keeper and worth investing in. The first set has Jerry dialing in some great renditions of Sugaree, Crazy Fingers, and Mission in the Rain, but the 2nd set here is where the fire and ice collide: Samson uber-funky, as always for '76, and check that absolutely ***swooning*** Eyes (those hi-hat cymbals!) hot on the heels of St. Stephen's final verse - wow, indeed.
The transitions here are what make this set - the band just turns on a dime so easily - the Sugar Magnolia after Wheel is another example.
Nothing misplayed, no mussed lyrics, Eyes pouring its gold all over the place - it's another bit of that spirit of '76.
